Note
- If you choose to delete the template/database after duplicating it for any reason and want to reduplicate it, please give access to Bookfill again so we can update the credentials on our end. You can do this by clicking on the access link.

âž– How to use Bookfil
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceVM1tuV9eg&t=6s
- Bookfill fetches details of books you add to “Bookshelf” and adds these details to the respective fields in the database.
- You can fetch book details using the name of the book or its ISBN.
- To add a new book using book name, add the book name to the “Title” property and end it with a semicolon (example: The Handmaid’s Tale;)
- In a few seconds, the properties for the book in the Bookshelf database will update automatically and an image of the book cover will be added to the page as a cover.
- If the book that is bookfilled is not what you are looking for, you can add its ISBN10 or ISBN13 to the respective fields in the database and end it with a semicolon and the details will be replaced with the ones you want (example: 0349419175;)
- Adding a semicolon to the title/ISBN of an existing book will update the properties of the book again.
Properties that will be filled - Title, ISBN_10, ISBN_13, Authors, Category, Summary, Pages, Published, and Publisher.

âž– Use Bookfill with your own reading list
Bookfill works with the “Bookshelf” database you will find in the “My Bookshelf” template. If you already have a book tracking page on Notion and only want to use Bookfill, this can be done in the following ways:
- You can move the “Bookshelf” database (from My Bookshelf) to your Notion page. This should be done before allowing access to your Notion workspace. If you have moved the “Bookshelf” database to your reading list after giving access, please allow access again using the access link so we can update the credentials on our end.
- Change the name of your pre-existing database of books to “Bookshelf” and add/change the following properties (ideally done before allowing access):
- Title (of type title)
- ISBN_10 (of type text)
- ISBN_13 (of type text)
- Bookfill (of type checkbox)
- Authors (of type multi-select)
- Category (of type multi-select)
- Published (of type text)
- Publisher (of type text)
- Summary (of type text)
- Summary_extd (of type text)
- Pages (of type number)
- Bookfill (of type checkbox), only if you have added the property
Note: You need to have the above properties with the same names and types in your Bookshelf database for Bookfill to work.
Note: Ensure that you have only one Bookshelf database in your workspace when you allow access.
